When I became a principal, I had received no specific training on leading a Title I school. I quickly realized that I had a lot to learn while in the trenches. I spent a decade studying the ins and outs of compensatory education, and I conducted research on the best leadership practices needed to close the achievement gap between impoverished and affluent students. Ultimately, I developed a research-based platform inclusive of educator coaching, training, collaboration, and reflection. As a coach, my goal is to share what I ascertained as a result of my experiences and purposeful self-study so educators can learn about research-based practices while engaging in professional learning during their leadership journeys.
